Get to know our Consultant Pauline

We are excited to introduce Pauline, Consultant in our Munich team who joined scty in March 2025.

Her path to consulting

Before this, I studied business administration (BWL) and management. I then worked in the media industry, which was a very different field. I completed an 18-month trainee program at a large media company and subsequently worked in a board-level department that centrally handled product and innovation topics within the company. My transition to consulting was driven by the search for a faster-paced environment. Corporate life is different, even though our projects can sometimes have a long-term character. I wanted something more dynamic and an environment that continuously challenges me, pushes me out of my comfort zone, and allows me to see a variety of things. Also, if you’re in a corporate department, you are primarily focused in your current, thematic role. The public sector offers much more flexibility in terms of project diversity.

Why scty?

I was really focused on the company’s values during my search. When entering consulting, you often face a dilemma regarding working hours, work-life balance, and the way people collaborate — you might have to make compromises. I reflected heavily on how to reconcile these factors.

I gravitated toward the public sector because I wanted to generate sustainable impact in a consulting role. It is not just about optimizing revenue but about creating value for our clients and for society, which I did not feel in my previous job in the private sector. During the interview process, I was reassured that scty actually tries to bring these values together. It’s not just about creating impact, but also about providing a good working environment, supporting personal compatibility, and addressing psychological safety. That's why I chose scty: I felt everything fit together nicely.

What she loves about her workday

What I appreciate most about my workday is my colleagues. This might sound cliché, but both here in the Munich office and on projects, I think the behavior towards each other is great – and I appreciate that we’re relatively young. Projects cannot be great and run smoothly every day; there are frustrations and bad days. I find that the environment really helps mitigate those moments. It reminds me repeatedly how important it is to feel comfortable in the environment, and that makes the whole experience more enjoyable.

Highlights from her projects

From a project perspective, I always find it great when we face challenging situations with our clients and can step into the consulting role and find a solution. In my current project the project manager takes the lead in strategic discussions with the client. But still within our project teams we discuss on an eye-level and even at a relatively junior level, it is interesting for me and encouraged that I contribute my opinion and perspective.

The team spirit at scty

Regarding the team spirit, I find it very much at eye level. I don’t feel hindered by hierarchies, which is very valuable. I love that so many colleagues bring so much energy and ideas. A lot is happening outside the projects, such as the AI discussions and sessions, and everyone can decide how much they want to participate. It is very appreciative, at eye level, and in the public sector, we can say it’s entrepreneurial. I also look forward to our regular team events, which is not something to be taken for granted. I love seeing all the colleagues, and it is a nice moment that reflects the spirit we’re working hard to embody.
